At Gate Hill, we’ve created an environment that integrates campers into our camp community, while still nurturing their individual needs. Our program is balanced; giving campers opportunities for independent choice, participation in daily group activities, and the experience of camp wide events.

Aquatics

Every camper’s schedule includes both an instructional swim period and a recreational swim period daily. Our Red Cross certified lifeguards will guide even our youngest swimmers as they advance their strokes and skills. Our impressive waterfront complex includes heated pools, a splash park and a private lake for boating and fishing.

Athletics

Combining outstanding skill development with friendly competition, campers learn great sportsmanship while simply “loving the game”. Our program encompasses both traditional and specialized sports as well as an outdoor adventure facility. Trained specialists, such as coaches and college athletes, instruct activities with passion and patience while ensuring campers are safe, improving skills and having fun.

Arts

Campers will have the opportunity to create traditional arts and crafts projects, mold and shape in ceramics, make their own jewelry, prepare edible treats in cooking and explore the camp grounds in our nature program. Campers interested in the performing arts can experience theatre, music, dance and our recently added GHDC Band, which accompanies live shows and “jams” together during daily electives.

Camper Electives

Beginning in first grade, campers are able to choose activities that they would like to participate in each week, called Electives. First and second graders have one elective per day, while third graders and older have two elective periods daily. This time is designated for children to explore their personal interests and have a say in their daily program.

Special Event Thursdays

Campers’ smiles work overtime on Thursdays during our super fun Special Events. These events vary each week from outside entertainers to Gate Hill favorites like Carnival and Halloween in July. Our camp families will tell you that Thursdays are not to be missed at Gate Hill!
